Prefetch while you watch
After the player's first request it warms up the segments ahead. When local data covers a request it goes straight to the player; otherwise the original request goes through, so playback never breaks.

Keeps Bilibili videos close to you. Smooth playback from anywhere in the world, and it keeps playing when the network drops.
Most of Bilibili's video servers are in mainland China. From abroad, every chunk of data crosses an ocean and back; the player only buffers a few seconds ahead, so the slightest hiccup means spinning.

Kindred Afar fetches the segments ahead onto your device before the player even asks. The orange stretch on the progress bar is what's already close at hand.
From the moment you press play, Kindred Afar quietly fills the bottle in the background.

Downloads the best quality your account actually gets and joins video and audio into one MP4 on your device, without re-encoding. Or keep just the audio in its original quality (Hi-Res lossless / Dolby Atmos / AAC).
Downloads run on their own in the background. Network drops, expired addresses or rate limits are refreshed and resumed from where they stopped; pause and resume anytime without reopening the video.
On the right is the extension's real popup (with demo data). Go ahead and click: switch between "This video" and "Library", or open the settings in the top right.
The name comes from a Tang dynasty poem: with a kindred spirit somewhere in the world, even the ends of the earth feel next door. Bilibili is where that community lives: the same memes, the same danmaku, the same shared references. Far from home, the people who get you are still here. Kindred Afar just makes the distance stop spinning.
Kindred Afar has no server. Everything it remembers stays in your own browser.
